Let’s Rebuild Dena Stronger!
Battery Storage = Resiliency!
10 kWh of Enphase Battery Storage
When the Eaton fire struck, some were better prepared than others. As we rebuild, let’s do so in a way that makes us stronger, safer, and more resilient than before.
The afternoon before the fire began, as the winds began to howl, one of our clients whose system was completed, but SCE had not yet approved it, called us and asked if we could turn the system on as they had lost power. The system that we had installed consisted of 9 kW of solar power and 10 kWh of battery storage. We walked him through the simple process of turning the system on.
Just like that, the lights came back on, the gate on their driveway opened, and they were able to pack up their belongs in a well lit home, rather than fumbling in the dark. As my client told me later, “the battery system was critical for us having lights to grab our important things.”
That is the type of resiliency that can make all the difference in a critical outage—and lets face it, SCE is only going to have more outages going forward. Moreover, as SCE’s rates gets ever more punitive, battery storage lets you store energy during the day, and draw from it in the evening, thereby avoiding the most expensive energy rates in the 4-9 p.m. window.
Having battery storage at your home gives you peace of mind, knowing that you will always have power when you need it the most, all the while helping you give less of your har- earned money to SCE, and who doesn’t love that?
Solar Power = Savings!
Solar Installation in Altadena
Having solar power along with battery storage means that you charge your batteries from the sun, not the grid, thereby depriving SCE of even more of your money. During the day when the sun is shining and your energy loads are small, the excess energy from your solar power system charges the battery for use that night. Since SCE’s rates at night are more than double what they are in the daytime, you essentially shift your energy usage away from the grid and onto the energy you have produced, thereby maximizing your savings.
Avoiding SCE's expensive evening rates is key to maximizing the savings potential that a solar and battery storage system can provide, and Run on Sun’s expertise in designing properly sized systems to meet your needs is crucial to making that potential a reality.
